Our 3rd project at the University of Portsmouth was undertaken by Dr. Aikaterini Lalatsa. This project was undertaken to look at using peptide nano-fibres to carry agents across the blood brain barrier (BBB). The BBB is very effective at blocking drugs and other agents from reaching the brain.
This means that they either pass through too slowly and their effective half-life expires, or they do not pass through at all.
